SPARK Summer Internship Program
Opens Dec 3 2024 12:00 AM (EST)
Deadline Feb 4 2025 11:59 PM (EST)
Description

Instructions and Important Information for Applicants

Eligibility:  This program is for currently enrolled undergraduates, particularly students who have completed 2 or 3 years of study and who have had advanced coursework and laboratory experience.

If you will have graduated from a college or university by May, please do not apply, you are ineligible.

If you will not have graduated high school by June, do not apply - you are not yet eligible.

US non-citizens may be ineligible for the provided stipend.

Admission:
Students admitted to the program will need to provide a local address (where they will be living during the summer) and a social security number.   They will be subjected to a criminal background check, standard medical tests appropriate for their work area (TB for example) and a drug test for the use of illegal drugs.  A positive or inconclusive drug test will result in a dismissal from the program.

Interns will not be provided a stipend or be allowed to begin training in the lab until these admission requirements are met.

Additional required documents:

  1. Letter(s) of Recommendation: At least one letter of recommendation from a person with whom you share an academic relationship is required. You will provide email addresses for your recommender(s) within this application, and they will receive an electronic request for a letter. Applicants are responsible for ensuring their letters are received before the deadline. At least one, but no more than three letters may be provided.  Letters should describe the writer’s relationship with the candidate and should address the applicant’s character and potential as a leader in cancer research.  Since most applicants have outstanding academic credentials, these letters are very important to the selection committee to make distinctions amongst the candidates.
  2. Official academic transcripts: Applicants who have not yet completed a full year of undergraduate coursework, must also provide a copy of their high school transcripts. Those who have completed at least a year of an undergraduate program, only need to have their undergraduate transcripts submitted. Only official transcripts sent directly by your university, college, or high school will be accepted, we will not accept unofficial transcripts emailed by applicants. Please be advised that electronic transcripts are preferred, as mailed transcripts could experience delays in our campus mail system and potentially put your program decision in jeopardy. Electronic transcripts should be sent to SPARK@moffitt.org.

If electronic submission of your transcripts is not possible, please have the paper application materials mailed to:

Attn: SPARK Program Materials/RET
13131 USF Magnolia Drive, MRC 4E Mailstop
Tampa, FL 33612

Application materials must be received between December 3rd, 2024, and February 11th, 2025.
